HIGH-HEELS, BACK PAIN AND KNEE ARTHRITIS – KNOW YOUR FOOTWEAR

High heels have become an integral part of a modern woman’s wardrobe as they pair well with fashionable dresses and make you look stunning on every occasion. But unfortunately, most women are oblivious to the downside of high heels. Wearing high heels for long can cause acute pain in your knees and lower back as you tend to arch your back to maintain balance, which puts pressure on these parts of your body.

High heels also tend to put you off balance, thereby making you more prone to issues like twisted ankles or sprains. Wearing heels that are more than 2 inches high for a long period of time might also cause deformities in your toenails or pain in your heels. Honestly, it is not possible to completely stop using heels for a woman. However, here are a few tips that might help you continue wearing high heels without causing much damage to your bones and joints.

1. Make sure that the heel height does not exceed 2 inches

2. Exercise your legs and core regularly so as to strengthen the muscles in that area to help you maintain a balance while wearing heels

3. Remove your feet from the heels when you are sitting idle

4. Soak your feet in warm water before going to bed to increase the blood circulation in the heel and ankle area and to relax your feet

5. Keep comfortable footwear with you to change into them while at work

6. Make sure to not wear them regularly; opt for good & comfortable footwear instead for regular use

Following the above-mentioned tips will allow you to use high heels while keeping your feet

happy and maintaining your style quotient simultaneously.
